bright\ normal?

MY old fender amp had this option, but when both were used at the same time, the were the same. I really don't like the bright tones that come from the bright input. Is there a modification to make it the same as the normal input? I plug my mic into my amp alot and it would be better for me to have them the same. oh and, any hints as to what the "biased" means? thanks

Bright inputs usually have a capacitor that brightens the treble frequencies.

If you're using both and would like to make them both "normal" you could USUALLY just remove the cap.

Bias is a term used to describe the idling current of your power tubes... yeah, "idle" as in the car term... it's very similar in usage here.

If it's grossly underbiased, you'd hear it - it's ugly. Over-biasing it slightly makes it "hotter" in regards to power amp distortion... that's stating it very plainly of course, so you may want to do a bit of research because:

1. I'm ocmpletely drunk right now.

2. It's a little more complicated than I care to struggle to type :)

A mic?! Is this for a harmonica?

Otherwise it's best to use a PA since a guitar amp will "crunch" vocals (an interesting "effect" if you're into vocal effects). SOme harp players sing into their harp mic through an amp for a weird distortion effect on the singing (like Mick Jagger does sometimes).

I'm doing somewhat low volume singing, so distorting the vocal signals isn't that big a deal really. I used a guitar amp for some loud band stuff last year too and there was no problems. If you remove the capacitor, don't you have to replace it with another one? If that is the case, any ideas as to which one I should use? Probably just match the other input I guess, assuming it has one.

Nah, you don't need to swap the cap... BUT you can use different values to "tweak" the brightness effect.

The bright input would have an "extra" cap.

I'm never drunk, wht are you guys talking about?! HAHA

Drinking/building amps/replying to forums don't mix..
However, Dewar's and club soda does, very well.

Uh... like as in pipe tobacco?

Pipe tobacco is perfect for making your guitar cases smell good, especially when they still have the fermaldahyde "new case smell".

Uh... the other stuff makes it smell a little "skunky" :)

Hey, I'm sober right now! It's 8:30am... give me about an hour to shower then I'll be drinking cheap scotch in Squirt soda... refreshing :)

I had a friend in college who knew his shower was over... when the beer was done. ;)
