There was one for sale recently in the classifieds. I agree with you...very cool amps. I'd love to have one or two myself!

I have played that amp

or one just like it at Buffalo Bros a few weeks ago... the maker is a TDPRI member cancerleocam....

Very cool amp... my buddy and I played it for probably an hour and loved it.... He is gassing for it mightily, I had just bought another amp (a tone king) prior to trying it out or I'd have gone home with it....

the 1 15" in the one we played was very full, the reverb was as deep as you could want and the sucker was really well built. I'm sure others could 'chime' in as well... I think Johnny Crash was gonna go play one this week in LA...

Looks like a very nice amp. A slightly cheaper alternative for Fender style amps might be Allen Amps. They offer a number of different models, and are a few hundred dollars less but don't have vibrato. Extremely well thought of, too.

The one I played had a 'store price' less than listed on the site... comparable to Allen (which do have a good reputation) and include vibrato etc... the 1 X 15 is a cool idea, I've been thinking it would be cool to build a kit thunderbolt... I liked the gomez vibe as much or more than the Allen's...

Sounds like this amp is a Princeton Reverb in a 1x15 cabinet?

I've neither played nor heard the Gomez & while i'm sure it's a nice amp I can't imagine that any similar amp out there sounds better than my Allen sweet spot. Maybe as good as but not any better.

Brian,

You should go play it... it is at Buffalo Bros... right in your neighborhood.

Pirana,
btw I dig the Allen's, no disparagement intended... I like them both... kind of a Carmen Electra/Pam Anderson thing.... either would be a barrel of monkeys, flavor to taste...

The 15" is a really good idea....

I'll try and get there...my experience with that place is that they are not that friendly to coming in and playing their gear... Seems like alot of places these days that do a bulk of their business on the net....frown upon folks coming in off the street . You walk into some of these places and their always on the phone...and don't want you making any noise.

I know what you mean... What I do when I go in there is nod and wave and be friendly (they are on the phone for their internet biz) go back where the amps are... pick up what you want to play (amp wise) take it back to the little closet listening rooms (bad shielding on the lighting, don't freak out if the amps buzz a little) and grab a cool axe to play, shut the door and give yourself tinnitus (just kidding, no flaming, I didn't mention cats) and play till you can't stand it... or go swap amps or guitars... I've never had one of those guys say a word...

Then you could review the amp on here... I'd love to hear what you think!

Wow!

I step away to buy some supplies and a much needed floor fan and this thread breaks out. I'm flattered and I must say thanks to all for the kind comments.

As far as the pricing on the amp I STRONGLY urge you to contact me offline if you're seriously interested and the price is a bit much. Nothing is set in stone.

Wow is right! Congrats on what sounds like a great amp! Is the reverb an trem the same as on a Princeton Reverb?

The reverb is the same circuit but I personally use a different pan (3-spring for me). The two -spring sounds like your typical lush Fender surf 'verb.

The trem is bias vary- similar to the Princeton Reverb but is as strong or stronger than a VChamp's oscillation. Fender's stock trem on a PR sucks -it's barley audible. You will have more than enough modulation strength @ 3-4 on the Intensity dial on the "G." No one will ever say they don't have a strong enough trem on a "G"...EVER.

I think finally people may start checking out more now that reviews are rolling in-bringing it out of obscurity. it really is my #1 amp I personally play through.

My favorite part is how the backdrop for all of the photos of the amps are so familiar to me...

CancerLeoCam, when are we going to have some drinks?

The old ladies can sit there bored at us talking shop - they better be used to it by now!

If you ever decide to go out on the town, hit me up! We're neighbors for Pete's sake!

Thanks...Brian

Maybe when things get rolling....

...I could do the kit thing but honestly I don't have much interest in it at the time. There's not a whole heck I personally get out of it and the overhead would kill me.

With the "G" I can personally take my time building the amps and make sure they are individually sonically solid before they are out the door. Selling kits in addition to building requires more time devoted to customer service that would draw away time from my "G" customers.

My philosophy is that if you build it-back it. Don't short change the customer with a good sales pitch, take their hard-earned cash and then leave them hanging when something befuddles them about your product. I won't do that EVER!

Even if I only sell a handful amps I will always make sure they are priority number one when they trust me with their hard-earned cash and put their trust in me to take care of them when things are strange. I've been there and I know what's it's like to wooed then shooed. I treat people like I want to be treated-good.

So sorry for the long winded answer to the kit question.

Johnny, yeah we'll have to get together. I've been super swamped to even eat these days. In the meantime go check out the G at Westwood and tell me what you think of the Cali 15. Thanks!

Oh, I have a cool trick up my sleeve that no one will believe it when they see it as far as a new amp offering. Stay tuned for this fall's newest additon to the amp line.
