New (to me) tele amp...
Arrived late last week, and went out to the gig on Saturday... bought a TopHat Club Royale, and love it.
A few weeks ago, after going to the Guitar Show in Dallas, I stopped-by a friends house to sit and play - he did me the 'favor' of plugging my tele into his TopHat King Royale, and I couldn't believe what I heard... such beautiful, shimmering highs, great harmonic swirl, and really great tones. I'd never heard anything like it. So I poked around, and nosed around, and found that the Club is basically the 2 el84 version of the King (4 el84s) and took a chance that it would work for me - I found a used one at a price that I felt I could prolly get my money back, and it arrived a few days later. It's a 2x12 version, and reports to be 20 watts, which is more than enough for me, most of the time. The tone I heard is here in the smaller version, and I'm really happy with it. If I ever get a roadie, or a gig I can drive right up to the stage, this thing in stereo with my Tweed Deluxe would just sound great. Check 'em out! |

Congrats on a killer amp. Top Hats amps have always been ( and sadly, will probably remain ) on my short list. Heard Los Lobos with Top Hats years ago and was floored with the stellar tone. OF course, those guys could make a Backstage 20 sing, but the harmonic richness Top Hats possess is truly inspiring.
