Fender Automatic SE

any experience with this amp? I know Fender made two, the SE and the GT around 10 years ago or so, but apparently, they were short lived.

In my search for a small amp, I came across one. Plugged it in and darn if it didn't sound nice. 12" speaker....lots of headoom and nice reverb..oh yeah, it also has a built in ( yippee skippie ) chorus.

It has 4 pushbuttons that select clean, blues, overdrive crunch and distrotion. I just tried the clean setting as thats all I'll probably use and darn if it didn't sound good. The guy at the store said he'd had it there for a year and never plugged it in....he was even impressed with the tone.

So, I snagged it and will put it through it's paces tomorrow when the house is empty. Just curious if anyone has any thoughts on these good or bad. I couldn't pass it up for the deal I got.

Well.....I know it doesn't have pentodes or triodes, but this little gem continues to impress. With various single coils, buckers and lipstickers, it cranks out a tone that is classic Fender all the way. Yes, the distortion tones are crapola, but it takes o/d pedals well and a nice clean tone was what I was after.

If ya happen to come across one of these, don't rule it out just cause there is no glowing glass in the back!
