OK to do this?

I just purchased a Pro Junior that has been converted to an extension cab. I'll be using it with my HR Deluxe. Is it OK to unplug the 12" HRD speaker and plug into the Pro Junior speaker only, instead of both? I'm thinking it would be nice for quieter home playing.

No problem at all with that..............

I used to unplug the speaker on my HotRod DeVille 2-12 and use an old Kustom 4-12 cabinet when I needed to. One gig we play yearly is a festival in North Carolina which has an old PA set and they don't mike instruments. The Closed back Kustom cabinet was heard a lot better than the open back built in speakers. I don't have the HR DeVille any more but I've done the same thing with my Blues Deluxe Reissue and it works fine.........JH in Va.

I was wondering about going the other way, not up to a larger set of speakers, but down from a 12" (HR Deluxe) to a 10" (Pro Junior) speaker. I was hoping to get quieter, not louder Thinking it would sound more Pro Juniorish, less HR Deluxish. So, I'm just wondering if that will harm my HR Deluxe ?

you just have to match the impedances. not sure what your hrdlx has, but it's probably a single 8 ohm? do some research...if the pro junior is the same, then you can

Yeah, single 12" 8 Ohm speaker on the HR Deluxe, single 10" 8 ohm on the Pro Junior.

Thanks!

sounds like your set then! just make sure to not plug them both in at the same time, because in that case it'd be either 16 ohms (parallel) or 4 ohms (series), which would be a mismatch, unless of course your output transformer has multiple taps and is switchable (then just match the impedance)

So, I plugged my HR Deluxe into the Pro Junior cabinet and disconnected the HR Deluxe 12" speaker. It was no quieter, oh well...sounded great though.

So, I'm running both speakers now, sounds really nice and full. I have the Pro Junior cab about 10' away, so it gets a beautiful, lush sound that fills the room. Very cool...
