Peavey Classic 50...impedance

4X10 Classic....I am not as familiar with these PV's as I am with Fenders, Marshalls. There are two speaker outs, one is 8 ohms and one is 16 ohms. The speakers are wired for 16 ohms. The owner of this amp has been running the amp in the 8 ohm out. After changing to the 16 ohm output, the amp was warmer and more pleasing to the ear. I suppose the amp has come to no harm. This player has had the amp for 4 years with no tube changes, and he had all of the volume and gain knobs maxxed when he brought it in.
What impedance do you Classic 50 owners run? (Note: I am of the 'match the impedance school'.)

The speaker are 16ohms so you should be plugged in on the 16ohms jack. 8ohms is when you get a second 16ohm external cab and run it with internal speaker then impedance becomes 8ohms. Peavey made it confussing I know they should have done differently.
