Need some answers quick, please!

Is $600 too much for a mid 70's Bandmaster Reverb?

I haven't heard it, but it's in great working order, apparently.

Help!

sounds about right. I saw one for 725 a couple weeks ago and one for 650 last week... make sure to test drive it....

and man, they are big and loud... but very cool.

are you getting the speaker cab as well?

If . . .

If you're talking about the whole rig - head and speaker cab - and if it's in good shape, and if it's pre-'76 (no Master Volume), then it is a pretty decent deal. It would be even better if it has been serviced (new caps, etc.).

WHen you try it out, if it sounds good, go for it. I love those amps!

Thanks, guys. I did the deal. It's just the head, but it's in great shape, no master, and the guy said he'd buy it back from me if I didn't like it, no problem.

I'm hoping to pair it with a nice 15" and have it do double duty for pedal steel and guitar. Any suggestions for speaker choice would be most welcome!

For that wattage, you may want more than one speaker.

Weber

Get a Weber ceramic Cailfornia 15 with a paper dust cap.
It will handle the power and be clean clean clean.

Did I buy the wrong thing? I thought the Bandmaster was basically the Vibrolux and Vibrosonic in head form. Because of that, I thought it would be well-matched with a single 15".

The Weber Cali sounds like great choice, but it might be time to re-think my amp. I want clean, but not necessarily clean clean clean. Maybe two "cleans" at most. The steel sound I'm after is Sweetheart-era Byrds and Burritos, which to my ear, is not quite Nashville clean.

Ralphie,

The BAndmaster Reverb is actually a Super Reverb HEad. It is designed fo a 4 Ohm load and I'm sure it would sound great with a 15" Just be sure to get a 4 Ohm one. Weber can probably suit your needs.

I like to go into a place in one trip - so I'd have to make it into a "combo amp". Either a 1x15" or a 2x10" would be the cat's pajamas.
