Call Dave at avatar speakers
Tell him what your putting them in and what kind of sound your looking for. He can make some good suggestions. Very easy to deal with and has some very good prices on these.

I have a C-Rex/Red Fang combo in my Avatar Premier G212H cab and really (really) dig it. For me it's the best of both of the ALNICo/Ceramic worlds. They sounded great out of the box and only got better as they broke in. 6 months later and they sound fantastic.
The price of the Emi line is so reasonable that experiementing with different speakers doesn't cost a ton, however I have no plans to change that mix of speakers. Dave at Avatar is great to deal with, very knowledgable and like Sandman wrote, he probably has the best prices of eminence speakers.

Thanks guys!
I have emailed Dave already and am currently waiting on a reply form him as well as the people at Eminence. The speakers in question are going into a Fender Twin Reverb. I was thinking about a pair of the C-Rex an a buddy is suggesting one C-Rex and one Red, White and Blues or one C-Rex and one Swamp Thang. Another buddy is suggestion the Wizard/Govner set up or the V30/H30 Celestion set up... Anybody else? |

I have a pair of Cannibas Rex speakers in my '72 Pro Reverb. It's my understanding that they are essentially modeled after Celestion Greenbacks with the exeption of the cone being made of hemp.
What the description the website says about it's sound is accurate. As are a lot of the reviews I've read here, on other sites. Really efficient and loud, great lows and a big round top end. It's quite dark, but I don't find it to be unmanageable. I shape my sound around the fact that both of my guitars are pretty bright (Telecasters). I also keep the amps trebble knob on 8 and then roll my guitars tone knob back a hair. So the dark sound that these are notorious for come accross in my rig as less of a detriment, I hit them with a brighter tone that translates extremely well. I find that this makes the top end sound much thicker, even on a single note lead above the 12th fret. |

C-Rex
I put a Cannabis Rex in my DRRI and couldn't be happier with my tone. It really helped tame what many consider to be the overly bright nature of the DRRI with the stock Jensen.
I play jazzy blues or bluesy jazz and for my style the Cannabis Rex was the perfect fit. I'm dying to give the Red Fang a try, but don't have the rtight amp for it just yet. In a Twin one of each just might be tone heaven.
