Twin or Deluxe?

My crate tube amp is getting pretty broken and I'm looking for a new one. Thinking about a Twin Reverb or Deluxe Reverb (the reissues). I think the Deluxe is the right option, as I use it for recording mainly and would like to be able to crank it up for that saturated sound. But, other than the wattage and extra speaker, is the Twin a better amp, and should I save for that? It's probably too loud for my uses but if it's that much better sounding I might save my pennies. Thanks

Either way....

...don't get the reissues. The silverface amps are awesome buys for the money.

SF Deluxe Reverb, unless you want loud/clean.

I'd go for the DR. Loud enough for recording/home use ;), and much easier to transport. Quality should be the same between a Twin and a Deluxe of the same year.

Don't snub your nose at the reissues. I bought a Deluxe used and it's the most reliable amp I've ever had. I've had it for about three years and I haven't changed anything to it.
I think the Twin is awesome and would be massive and impressive at shows. But it's not worth the hassle with it's weight and volume.

Get the Deluxe.

Sounds like you're concerned about having enough power. I've heard Deluxe Reverbs keep up with a loud band, unmic'd, with the right speaker and boost/OD pedals.

A very unFender, twin amp that, while certainly a "macro" amp, will break up BEAUTIFULLY much sooner than a Twin and is very loud, is the Korg reissue Vox AC30TBX. Tonewise, the AC30 is a very versatile amp.

But it's a lot quirkier than the Fenders.
