one of the best Fender RI's made

the weber alnico's sound very sweet. A nice solid wood cab (pine?), PTP wiring. A no brainer if you got the dough.

Yep, it's well made and comes with all the good stuff. If I had the scratch I'd get one.

I bought a Marsh Amps replica of one for less than a grand. It's ptp, high-quality parts, Weber sig speakers, in a lacquered tweed pine cab. It's probably my favorite amp ever.

lovin' mine.....

i use a y cord into both #1 inputs.....great "feel", very responsive to vol/tone pot and picking dynamics......
the one and only complaint might be, it's too much power (for me), too loud....but i still highly recommend 'em

Awesome amp...I jumper the #1's too, sometimes, but I find at times it can be a little too much output, and I get some feed back. But seriously..if ya got the funds, how could turn this amp down? =)

A sidenote however, you may want (you'll probably need) to get an attenuator, like the THD hotplate...

Thanks for the input. Anybody else out there? Keep em comin'.

I would mainly be using the amp clean with pedals, so the power isssue is not a big one for me. I understand is starts to break up around 5. Is that correct? Thanks.

One more thing--when you jump channels, where do you plug the guitar in if you use both #1 inputs? Thanks.

Partially, depending on the guitar, and attack...also, if you pull one of the 5U4 Rectifiers, it'll break up earlier. If I'm going for a good (yes, I know, "good" is always subjective ;) ) blues/rock sound, I pull a rectifier and turn it to about 6-7. =) That gives me a nice warm saturated overdrive, with good sustain.

But yeah, I'd say 4-5 is the "begining" break up area.

Pulling the "extra" rectifier chokes voltage away from the power tubes.

As far as jumpering channels, I believe you can also use a short cable - like the old Marshall freaks used on their 4 input amps.

If this amp is too much power for you, I'm building it's lower watt brother, the 5D8 Twin. I't not fixed bias, but Cathode biased, so it's less powerfull (it also uses 5Y3s instead of it's big brother's 5U4s).

I'll let you know how that sounds once I'm done - probably in about a week and a half, since I'm so busy right now... but I got the parts all sitting here waiting :)

Great info. Thanks for the replies. The jump channel is a great idea I will use for sure.

I went to the store and put some money down on the amp today. I will be picking it up at the end of the month. I played an Anderson Tele into the amp for about 30 minutes. This amp sounds like it looks--very buttery. And it is not like anything else I have. Stay tuned. And Crash--please keep me posted on the low watt version! Thanks.
