Music Man value

Am picking up a Music Man RD112-50 w/EV 12" speaker. Am paying $350. It's in very good to excellent condition, all original and includes footswitch. I've been looking for one of these for a long time. I'm not concerned about paying a bit more than its value, just don't want to get hosed with the price. I think it's pretty fair. Any comments? Thanks.

I'm with getbent on this one. The price is OK and certainly not way out of line. Last year I fixed one up that was lying around a friend's pawnshop (just needed one new tube - no big deal) and I believe he got about $325 out of it (also fixed up a MM bass head for him which sold for about $250)

But the bottom line is that these are really nice amps. I would assume the pawnshop price would be a bit below a music store but probably close to a private sale. These amps took off for awhile when Clapton was using them but seemed to have fallen somewhat out of favor.

Yes.

I agree. One thing to watch for is inoperable reverb. This happens pretty frequently. Also, look for rust on the trannies and chassis. This is comon, but it is important to take note.

As an aside, I just got the opportunity to buy Joe Strummer's RD212. I passed as it didn't really have the right history and I didn't fell like spending $25,000 (!) for a MusicMan.

Thanks

For the feedback. The amp is in pretty amazing shape. No rust, or tears in tolex or grill cloth. Sounds pretty nice. A main reason that I'm buying it is that I've been looking for a clean amp, and the Music Man line seems to fit that bill better than anything else I've tried.
Will post some pics when I get it.
