AC30 fans:

The good news is they look practically perfect, and aren't too hideously overpriced for boutique. The bad news is that they're made by Hiwatt/Music Ground, so you'd be supporting the Lovejoys of the vintage amp world.

Wow, The chassis pics actually look like a real AC30 on the inside. Looks like the best Copy (reissue) yet.

Is Jennings still alive, and does he have any direct connection to this company?

I have been playing through a borrowed mid-60s AC-30 which is one sweet amp. But at well over $3,000 my pockets ain't quite deep enough for this baby (I think this one is headed for the Dallas guitar show). If these amps are a good copy then I would think they might be a bargain. The guts sure do look dead on.

Hehe, that's wonderful. Only thing missing is the "VOX" letters.

How "not too hideously overpriced" are they?

I couldn't find any such info, or much of any info, at the website.

Dave, thanks for cluing us in. Those look intriguing. I wonder if the "12-inch Alnico Blue speakers" are Celestion Vox Blues (I suspect they are), whether the transformers are exact replicas (an important factor in the original AC30 sound) and last, but not least, what do they cost?

Looks like the speakers are Fane alnicos, not Celestions. Celestion baskets have four mounting holes, but the ones in the JMI pictures have 8... If I were buying one of these, I'd get it with the cheap Greenback speaker option and put Celestion blue frames in it myself.

Here's a quote from the mfg:

1.Build /Production , Each JMI amplifier is produced to the same high standard as the original 60s models inc radio spares tag board strips (Each /every amplifier takes circa 3-4 days to build )

2.Sound /Tone , As you may be aware (We have had great response ) the sound /tone of the amplifiers is identical to that of the originals

3.Pricing , Can advise pricing as follows

________________________________

AC30 (4 or 6 Input)

Fawn /Beige Tolex

Blue Alnico Bulldogs £1799 (approx $$ 3148 )

Greenback Speakers (Ceramic) £1599 (approx $$ 2798 )

___________________________________

AC15 (Black /Fawn Option)

Blue Alnico Bulldog £1449 (approx $$2535 )

Greenback Speakers (Ceramic ) £1349 (approx $$2360 )

(Please note /be aware by recomended choice would be the alnico speaker as this adds to the vibe /sound factor of each amplifier )

4.Shipping , The shipping costs are as follows

TNT (UK) = £25

DHL (USA) = £130 (approx $200 )

5.Payment , We take payment via bank transfer /credit card

6.Build /Delivary Time , Based on the ++++ response for the amplifiers we are quoting 1-2 weeks for shipment /delivary (we expect based on demand to increase further)

(please note if you wish to personally view /inspect the model range they are available in MUSIC GROUND LEEDS)

7.Questions /Further Imformation , If you have any further questions /require further pictures do advise and ill gladley assist (we will be posting further pics / details on the web site within the next days)

Also note - there is NO TOP BOOST VERSION. Yet. They offer two versions of the AC30/4 w/EF86 pentode preamp, and an AC30/6, but the /6 is a standard model, not the TB. I think that's an odd choice, seems to me that the collectors/purists who are going to choose a non-TB AC30 would go with the /4, and the players who choose the /6 are gonna want the tone controls.

Of course TB add-ons are available aftermarket, and can be installed by any competent tech, just as they were in the '60s, and a rear-panel TB has more "vintage mojo" than the later amps with integral TB. But it's an additional expense all the same. I wonder if there's a hole in the back panel of the re-issued /6, under the nameplate, for the Top Boost add-on?
