Vibroverb with a 15"JBL

Pardon me, I'm still gettin the hang of this forum.
I own a Vibroverb w 15" JBL - I bought it from a friend that was letting me use it. My parts-caster is only 40% done. Can you give me a teaser as to how the amp sounds with a tele in front of it?
I doubt if I could convey how good it sounds with my current guitars (most folks would figure it was just more SRV hype).

'65 Bandmaster

Still in the honeymoon period, but I don't think I've ever been happier with an amp than with my January '65 Bandmaster with Weber cab. It sounds just like I want it to with the knobs all at 12 o'clock, my personal test for amp quality.

Interesting....what is it you liked about the VC30 and disliked about the HRD? I'm on the prowl for a replacement for my Traynor ycv40 if a speaker swap doesn't work (it's too thin sounding), and would welcome your thoughts.

dr.z maz junior....

i go along with countryshawn,
best amp for me is my dr. z maz junior nonreverb 2x12 with weber blue dog alnicos.
it sparkles and shimmers.....
i just donīt feel the need to seriously check out other amps, for that is the sound i want to have...
but as said, thatīs just my personal gusto.
take care everybody

I have four...

For Lower wattage situations, it's My Newcomb PA head from the '50s (5E3) or my roadside find '69 Teisco Checkmate 15 (Vox AC15 copy).

For Louder needs it's my '72 Pro Reverb, bf'd of course, loaded with Eminance Cannibas Rex or my secret weapon, a heavily modified '95 Crate Vintage Club (50 watts of EL84 goodness and a 15 inch speaker, it can do Vox and Marshall tones).

I have a speaker cab with an antique 15 incher and antique 10 incher, both alnico. Another one with a Utah and Eminance GB12.

But ultimately I play my pignose the most.....

My Marshall Super Lead 100, circa 1971, which I no longer own. Sigh.

"Monumentally huge, frightfully loud, and painfully expensive ..."

This thing had tone, power, sustain up the wazoo, plus, it had the ability to render unsuspecting listeners the inability to remain standing. Basically it could ***** with yer inner ear in such a way to cause you to fall flat on yer arse.

Other than that amp, I wish I still had my '66 BF Bassman.

Right now I have my 68 SFSR, AB568..
I love it.
But I must say, the best tone for me is a JTM45 through a greenback loaded cab.
Someday I'll get one with maybe a 2-12...
That's my favorite dirt amp.
Favorite clean? A totally beat '66 Twin reverb with Altec speakers, a friend owns. Lined with cigg burns, brown grill , spills down front, rings on top etc. etc.
Looks like a heap, but is the most awesome Twin Reverb I've ever had the pleasure to play through.....
If I could have both, and a great A/B/Y, I'd be a happy camper....

Right now... my 5D8 '54 Fender Twin copy (built as a head) I built... through 2x12" Celestion V30s... occasionally with a TS808 Tubescreamer clone I built in front of the amp...

It's actually too loud - although it's only 20watts, I run it on 9 or 10 sometimes, when I want to deafen the drummer.

I also like my freak custom Champ head I built, same speaker cab with a 6L6 in it.

My favorite changes from time to time - just like it does with my guitars :)

I'm be building a "double 18 watt" 36 watt Marshall - so who knows what my fav will be in a week :)

I haven't owned a lot of amps, but I LOVE my current one: a VOX AD60VT Valvetronix. Mmmmm-mmmm.
