Re: speaker ?? pathfinder 15R

By the way, once I asked Ted Weber about a speaker for my Pathfinder, and he recommended the Alnico Sig 8...Only $35: For all Champs with 8" speaker, to replace Oxford 8EV, Chicago Jensen P8R, C8R. 8", 7oz AlNiCo plug magnet, 15 watt, 1" voice coil, straight cone. Warm, crunchy, early breakup, compressed/fattened at high volume. Will fit in tweed and early BF Champs. I keep spending the money on other stuff.

thanks for the recommendation Kerc. i'm thinking of picking one fo these amps up on the cheap. i was really hoping i could cram a 12" in there. it looks like there's alot of room. but your probably right about it being a bit too tight. a 10" will probably suffice.

I just measured my PF15 roughly. The inner height of the combo is 32 cm but there's a strip of wood at the bottom and the top, each with a thickness of 2 cm. This leaves a total of 28 cm for the speaker. A 10" spaeker has a diameter of 25,6 cm, a 12" speaker has a diameter of 30,5 cm. Oh, and btw, before you hunt for a 10" give the original speaker some time to break-in. I pretty much like the sound of the stock VOX speaker in my PF15. |

Pathfinder speaker swap...
I have removed the stock baffle board, and replaced it with a new one loaded with a 10". I THINK a 12" might go, there's enough real estate on the baffle, but "dry fit" it first to be sure the magnet clears the chassis. HTH...
