Mentoring a Kid

Who has a few problems and fewer healthy outlets. He's 18 and undereducated. He and a friend of his build and/or repair speakers for stereos. I am wondering if there is some way that I can get him trained to repair amplifiers and what he would need to know to do it. Where can he start, what type of schooling/training does he need and how do I help.

Thanks to one of the best internet groups going!

Peter

Wow, Life is funny aint it ...

Cause about a year ago i started working at a group home for teens in trouble. I am a mechanic and mainly I work on the fleet of cars but when school is session I work with the kids too. It's funny cause no one really understands how many of these kids are just like every other kid but they took a wrong turn are life threw something they couldn't cope or deal with.

So, since he is 18, you need to start looking at intro course at a community college or a tech school. If he doesn't have a high school diploma get him into a community intro class in electronics. If he catches on move into the direction of getting a GED then they can't turn him down for a full course in electronics. Now, here is the BUT in the situation, you can't make em do anything, you can lead, but if they don't go in that direction its not your fault. Do what you can and ultimately let them decide what they really want to do.
