Vibrolux and Webers

After researching and soul searching for far too long, I bit the bullet and ordered a pair of Webers - 10F150 and a 10F150T. Bolted them in three hours ago.

Flat out wonderful. The bottom end is tight, highs are creamy...and for once I can finally really hear my tubes break up without the old speakers farting out. (I'm running 5881s, I've got a pair of NOS 6L6GCs I'll install after the speakers break in - wager the 'Lux will grow hair) After reading a gazillion posts from people just like me agonizing about speakers, I'll say this much - run with this pair, you won't be sorry.

Kudos to Ted. I can't be happier.

It really is an agonizing type of decision when choosing speakers, but if you know that you just want that classic Fender sound you can't go wrong with the 10F150 or 12F150. I've got Reverend Alltones in my '64 Vibrolux and '66 Tremolux and I have the Webers in my 2 x 12 Bandmaster. Both of these brands are great for maintaining that Fender sound but just tightening everything up and giving you more of it.

Just wait until those Webers break in a few days down the road! Did you have Oxfords in your VR? Those really seem to get loose and farty early, although they sound pretty good at low volume.

They did indeed bring the amp back.

Actually, I really did like the Oxfords. They did their job well, but just lost it over the past year at gig volumes (pretty loud). I'm keeping them.

The Webers bring that Fendery sparkle back and allow the amp to cut thru so much better. Tonight should be interesting, as the gig usually demands that vol be at 6.5 to 7or so...should be fun. That's about as loud as mine gets, but the Tung Sols just love it right there.
