EL-34
I was wondering what kind of change in tone would i get if i put EL-34's in the class A sockets in my mesa mark 4. Right now it has 6L6 in it. I am looking for more of a voxish type tone, even though they use El-84.Thanks for the help

Yeah, your MKIV will never sound like a Vox, but EL-34's do give it a new dimension...Splurge the $40 or-so bucks on a set of SED EL-34's and have a listen for yourself.
I prefered them in my MKIII |

You don't get any "britishish dimintion" with EL34's, but it will sound different. Crunchier smoother distortion, less bass.
It's one of those those thing you can talk about 'till your blue in the face, but trying a pair will set you strait with a small capitol investment |

Thing is, just what IS the British dimension? Pretty hard to define. You can always ask here http://www.grailtone.com/forum/ and you'll find most guys like the MKIV's better w/6L6's
