Saw a Dr. Z amp tonite

I was out at a local club tonite and a guy was playing through a blonde tolex Dr. Z amp. It looked to be about a 1x12 combo and had ONE knob, pilot light and on'off switch. It sounded really good and toneful. Anyone know what model this might be? I didn't see any models (about that size) on their website that had 1 knob, except the MiniZ and it was bigger than that...

Have no idea what that might be. If it had two knobs it would be a carmen ghia or mazerati, but there's no production z out there with 1 knob and is bigger than the mini z.
Maybe it was a carmen ghia with one of the knobs taken off or obscured or something.

...hmmm the mini Z is the only single knob production Z i've ever heard of (i'm a Zaholic)....but early on the Dr was building some stuff that didn't really go into production...i feel confident saying there is nothing you could get new that matches your description and that it would be near impossible to find such an amp if indeed another exists.....you might ask around over at the Dr Z users website and see if The Dr himself as any info regarding your sighting....

You guys might be right...maybe it did have 2 knobs. It was dark out. It was a cool little band...I just happened to be walking by and saw these guys playing in an outdoor cafe.

This was the act... www.stevewhiteblues.com

It was definitely an offical Dr. Z cabinet. It was blonde with the Dr. Z emblem on the front, Quite cool looking and sounding. The guitar player was playing a Les Paul with mini-humbuckers through it. Not too loud...just some mellow bluesy soloing and accompaniment....you could hear the tone even at low volume though.

Brian, ya either a Mazerati or a Ghia probably, both great amps, I have both, I just picked up a Ghia head on Ebay. I really love these amps, 2 knobs and loads of tone.

I have

a Mazerati 2x10
a 2x10 cab
and
a Ghia head.

So for lower volume, I can use the 18 watt Ghia with the 2x10 cab, one step up would be the Mazerati, then if I wanted I could use the 2x10 cab as an extension to the Mazerati giving me a 4x10 super kind of thing, and if the venue is big enough I can use both amps which is really fun.

I have to admit, the Z's have got me all the way, I would say I am a zealot at this point, I sold all my fender amps.

Your welcome to come over and take em for a test drive anytime buddy. Or show up at a Rancho Deluxe show sometime.

Hi Jesse...thanks for the offer! I'd like to see your band sometime. Do you guys ever play down in SD county?
