Replaced stock valves in Mesa Boogie

I have hade a problem getting the tone I have been after playing my Tele through my Mesa Boogie Nomad (it was a good match with my Guild Starfire). I was finding it very harsh and by adjusting the tone on the Tele was getting ice pick or mud. After reading this forum and trawling the net I replaced the valves with JJ 84L's and the result has been awsome. Creamy smooth and sweet distortion and fantastic "spanky" clean sounds. Maybe some slight loss of base but I can adjust that at the amp. I was amazed by the difference it made and I recommend it to anyone (don't have shares in JJ's)

The first thing I did when I got my MK I RI was to have a bias pot installed and a quad of (original) Svetlana 6L6's installed. I think my Studio .22+ has M/B EL 84's but I like the way it sounds.

JJ EL84's are the best I ever played. I love them. Nice and creamy, lots of bottom end. Good times.

Mesa runs their EL84 amps hard...replacing power tubes every 6 months wouldn't be excessive!

I ran/run JJ's (EL84's) in my Studio 22+ for about 5 years

That's funny because my 6l6's last forever in my .50 cal+ THe current set of groove tube reds have been in there for 2 years now.

Not really, because they run most of the older the 6L6 amps very cold. Marks, Calibers, SOB's etc
