Pre CBS Amp Wattage

Hey Everyone,

I was just wondering what people thought with respect to the various amp wattages that were issued with the Pre CBS amps. I plan on buying one sometime over the next year or so but can't decide if I should get something like the vibrolux, vibroverb, etc that has 35-40 watts or something with lower wattage like the Deluxe which I believe is 22 watts or in the vacinity of. I play rock, hard rock, etc and I know the lower wattage amps break up better but I'm also a big Fulltone fan and have a Fulldrive so for the most part I would be running that through the amp when I want some gain. I would be using this amp mainly for recording so would it be better to run the Fulldrive through a low wattage amp like the Deluxe or go with something in the 35-40 watt range?

IMHO you would be better off going with the lower watt range as a deluxe, princeton, bronco and get your distortion from the amp and not from a pedal at all. I recently just dusted off my old deluxe and in the past I thought it broke up too quickly...since that time it has not become the amp that I plug into in the basement. The low watt is nice, and has some of the best overdrive ever....nothing you can find in a pedal.
