What in particular do you have questions about? I'm not familiar with that particular amp, but if it's a Transtube amp it has no tubes. TransTube is Peavey's name for their solid state amps. IMO, Peavey has the best SS amps available.
Peavey does not make a hybrid amp (tube pre/SS power or vice versa) at this time. |

They did make a good hybrid at one time though........
They did make a good hybrid at one time though, it's called the Peavey MX. I'm lucky enough to have two of these little jewels! They have four 6L6 power tubes but every thing else is solid state. This is by far the heaviest amp I have. I have a Fender Hot Rod DeVille 2-12 model and the MX with only 1-12 must outweigh it by 15 lbs. The MX has a monster transformer in it and a 12" black Widow speaker. I love this little amp and gig with it every chance I get but the damn thing really weighs a ton! The MX also has power switching from 60 to 120 watts and channel switching which works very well. I didn't have a footswitch so I contacted Mike Brown at Peavey and the made one up with the appropriate connector from another model amp and re-labeled it for the correct functions. If you see one of these in a pawn shop you can usually get 'em for about $200 and they're a steal......JH in Va.

well it's a studio pro a newer one and it has a t.dynamics knob which i'm guessing is tube dynamics. it goes from 10% to 100%. so are you saying it doesn't have tubes or its solid state? if it has both i want to know how it works.

I also have a Studio Pro, that I love. It doesn't have any tubes, but uses analog tube emulation. I did upgrade the speaker, which increased the clen headroom. I find the modern distotion to be better than most tube amps.
I have owned Fenders from a tweed '50's Deluxe, '60's Deluxe Reverb, Bassman and Bandmaster, '80's Pro Reverb, 90's Meas/Boogie, and 2000's Traynor. I play with a guy using a DRRI, with a Marshall Bules Beaker pedal, and my Peavey Transtube, with no pedals, sounds better, according to him, me and the recording artist we play for. The Tube Dynamics control has a little effect on the level where the amp starts to break up. The EQ pots really work. I often bump them when I move the amp, and the wrong EQ will make it sound terrible. Record your settings, when you get sounds you like. It takes a while to learn how to get the most out of the transtube amps. |

well in the studio pro i have it has a 1200+ sheffield.(thats what it says on it). i think it came stock with a blue marvel but i don't know i didn't change the speakers the past owner did. does yours have an external speaker jack in the back? my e/s jack is weird. you have to put the cord in like half way for both speakers to play. if you put the cord in all the way only the external speaker works. i don't know but yeah.

The T-Dynamics control, as I understand it, controls the "breakup" and helps the amp emulate power tube breakup at high volumes. It doesn't do much at lower volumes.

The Bandit is bigger, just a little more powerful. It comes with a Sheffeild speaker instead of the Blue Marvel. To me the Blue Marvel was the biggest short comming of the Studio Pro.
The Bandit has a Presence control (for frequencies between Mid and High), a Tight and Loose switch (for more Low frequency), and additional line in and out jacks. The biggest difference to me is a long spring Accutronics reverb, instead of short spring on the Studio Pro. |

yeah i'm such a dumbass i thought my reverb was broke because but i didn't have the little effects switch on the foot pedal(the one that came with it.) i called my dad and asked him and he told me. i took it off and looked at it though. it had two little springs connected to two different springs. i don't know but Chicago Slim what do you do for a living if you don't mind me asking?

I teach guitar, and I'm the band leader for Jay Lutz. He has a web site (jaylutz.com), where you can hear clips from a CD. I've owned vintage Gibson guitars and Fender amps, to a new PRS and a Mesa/Boogie. At Jay's request, I always play a G&L ASAT, through a Peavey Transtube, with his group.
The new music that we are doing is alternative country and Aussie rock e.g. Screaming Jets. They are a group he toured with in Australia. They do some very good rock, that no one has heard in the US. I think they have a web site or two devoted to them down under. |

yeah i have olny been playing guitar for about 6 months or less than that. i used to play bass and the reason i switched is because me and this other guy was going to start a band. we played a few times and it really sucked because we didn't have a guitarist.we looked and lookedand looked. no luck. so one day i picked up the guitar and just started playing it. after a while i got really really good.(not to brag) then my drummer betrayed me and then i found a bass player. then i found another drummer but he doesn't have his own set so we can't play untill he finds one so. it's not really a band but kinda. you know what i mean.

Learn as many instruments as you can play well. I got to be band leader because I can play guitar and bass some drums and keyboards. I can listen to horn parts, and play them on guitar or teach them to the keyboard player.
It seems you are always looking for the right musicians. When you get a new member, it helps if you can show them what they need to play, and get them up to speed. Good luck with your band. Tim |
