Valco w/ the cool grillcloth
http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/msg/3695782324.html
That stuff is the craziest grillcloth ever, only seen a few surviving amps with the stuff for sale over the years. I'm pretty certain there is no source for the cloth(I've looked at some grillcloth suppliers and none had anything like it). I do some screenprinting and I'm thinking of scanning the pattern and burning a screen to make my own cloth. I'd like to cover my 2x12 cabinet in the stuff. |

That design was everywhere in 1966. I remember whiling away the hours drawing designs like that. It's very easy to mimic. I think my junior high yearbook had a cover like that.

That grille cloth and strobe lites, made you think you were high even when you weren't.
That is not a bad price if that amp checks out to be as advertised. Always try for less but $500 ain't bad. What are the pre amp tubes,? looks like octals , that could be real interesting, but it could be just the way it looks in the pix, if they are 6sj7 or 6sn7 I'd be on that like a duck on a june bug. |

Well if I didn't have 4 funky old offbeat tube amps I'd be all over it. I just want the grillcloth is all. Just like I love seeing a full band with matching silverface equipment I think I'd be great to see a whole stage with this optical pattern stuff. Of course it's important to match the song selection with the grillcloth.

My sister has some very similar fabric in her design shop right now, a red pattern, but it's much to heavy to use as grillcloth. I'll teel her to keep her eyes peeled for something lighter.

Isn't that a true stereo amplifier??? Two preamp sections, two output sections. That is a hgue PT...it would have to be to run all of those tubes.
boredguy6060, unless I am mistaken, the preamp tubes up at the top are noval...9 pins. Everything down on the bottom are power tubes and rectifiers to my way of seeing things. one 5U4 and two 6L6's per side. I would love to see the controls on that one. ONe side seems to have effects while the other side is 'plain'....different number of tubes per side up on top. |

And...if that amp were near me I would not be typing this...I would be on my way to buy it. That it has part of one of TWiggy's dresses for a grille cloth is just icing on the cake is what I am thinking. The amp may be way cooler than that cloth.

yeah, on my pain meds, trust me it lets you know you are on drugs. laughs.
my guess its a silk curtain, or sheet, or something. probably not a run just for grill cloth. valco would of had to spend quite a bite just for a special run i think. chris

Wally you're right about the novals , I didn't see the tubes on top.
My pix aren't that good but are the input jacks along the top, if so how many are there? i didn't see them anywhere else, and it does indeed appear to be stereo. |
