Yet another PV follows me home...

Actually its in "quarantine" aka 30 day police hold, but I can get 'er out at the end of the month.

Yes that's right another chapter in my (seemingly) never ending tale of low or no cost finds from the folks in Meridian.
For those who are late to the party see..
"Excuse me is that your PV", and "Is that a PV on the side of the road."
Other older chapters include, "Studio Pro 112 for $49", and "It looks just like a Pacer, but its only $14.99" (Earth Travler) and The Bravo Chronicles or "Wadda mean there are tubes in there..."

My favorite GC continues to pack in the the budget Teal stripes, Last month it was a Express with Black Widow installed for $39 that I scored karma points on by letting it go to a local jazz guy who I could tell really wanted it, (I knew because he had brought a hand cart..do ya know how much a Express with a BW in it WEIGHS!?! I'm telling ya it's not light, dude was READY!) but I digress...

This one is the tough to find Studio Pro 110, I had heard tales of this mythic beast (65 watts 1x10, effects loop, 'verb, channel swithching (W/full EQ on both sides), bright switch) and rumors that it was both gigable AND one handable. Never seen one though. Now I have one for the gradiose sum of...$19.95 Yep that's right for the price of a movie and popcorn, I have a full featured USA made gig worthy amp that I can take on the Metro; can't beat that with a stick.
To top it all off, I hit my favorite thrift on the way home, and found a brick of Maxell high bias tape for my 414 ($5) and a Holga camera sealed in the box for $10...see it pays to be nice.

A Peavey Studio Pro 110 for $20?!? WOW! Sweet...for you, anyway!

Yeah, I am green with envy. I used to have one. And I loved it. The only reason I don't have it now is because my son has it.

Several years ago, he was in need of an amp, and I had several, so I offered him his choice of a couple of Envoys or the SP110. Smart kid, he chose the Studio Pro.

Oh, well, at least I get visitation rights whenever I'm over there (grown son, as in 36 years old now).

Seriously, congrats on a great find.

And what about all of these "chapters" you speak of? The only other Peavey thread of yours I remember seeing is the "PV on the side of the road" discussion.

Lol
I wrote a couple of things up, the excuse me thread is on here somewhere, I found a Audition 110 in the above mentioned thrift, I had it setting next to me when someone posed the question..alas it was a little iffy, and I sold it to a guy who uses it as a speaker cab for a small head.
The others were a good while ago and may have been on the old "Vox Talks "board..
I found the Earth in another GC for that price, sold it to a jazz violin player..super clean but that's all it did, she loves it.
The Bravo went into the shop, when the tech popped it open that was his response..fixed up great, but it was killing my back. Traded it and some other things for a demo Marshall 1 watt combo.
The 112 was a yard sale find, at a farm, where it had been stored in a chicken coop, don't ask how I know that.
I dissembled it and took the cab to a car wash and blasted it, it now lives with a friend who uses it in a punk band in DC...VERY loud little amp.

I had some red stripe finds, a Envoy with a loose reverb wire, a Bandit that was being used as a end table, oh and a TT SP that had a blown fuse, the guy was selling it as a cab and tossed the chassis on the trash. Luckily I got there before the trash guy, as it only needed a fuse.

One I didn't take was a Blazer that was in a VERY ripe dumpster last summer.

Wow, those are garage sale prices.

Speaking of which, I see Peaveys at garage sales all the time. Which ones should I be looking for? I've bought a bunch over the years and like the Backstage Plus and Studio Pro 40 the best out of all of them, and I know the Bandit is highly regarded.

The baltwash area has lots of long time PV dealers, but the SS amps are seen as disposable, and something you get to start playing or the first "big" garage band amp.
Most high school kids in these parts are already tube heads & won't be caught dead with one, and college kids have Mesas and UK Marshals, so PVs are VERY hard to sell for any real money.

I don't know that there are any truly bad ones, with the possible exception of some of the very tiny Chinese amps that have just come out. The 1x8 combos can be boxy but are usable, the audition 110 is a nice small amp, although not particularly loud.
The (tube) Bravo is a choice find ( if you can lift it ) with some great OD on tap and the Pacer is a really nice jazz amp for very little money.
Any of the various 2x12 hybrids with the 6l6 power section are great gig amps, the 2x 6l6 Classic is very usable, the bigger ones ( Deuce, Mace) are way too much for most modern situations, but the ability to blast 100-150 watts for $ 2-300 is cool, if you are say 5 miles from anyone :-)

Congrats on the Studio Pro :-) it seems to me that Peaveys are ignored these days, especially SS. I got my Classic VTX for $40!!!

I'm teal with envy!
I'd pay up to 150 USD for one of those! Wanna become a successful exporter? ;)
I've read all the other "Peavey tales" without realizing they were all from the same guy, You've got a record!

Got it home and cleaned it up, looks and sounds good.
I have been using it with a Squier Standard Tele, and it has a good twang on the clean, and is very blusey on Saturation Side, I don't use the pull bost much, but it's a usefull sound for heavy styles.
The 'verb can get wild but is fun for surf .
The big attraction is the compact size and light weight; sort of a pint size Bandit, not quite as small as a Envoy,it's still a one hand amp and the plywood baffle and slightly larger box are noticible when playing jazz and other styles where good bass response is helpful.

I'm happy for you that it turned out that good for you :-)

Yep, it's a pretty cool little amp, I'm happy that the drive side is useful, my experience with "super sat" in the smaller amps is that it's voiced for metal, and is too much too soon.Having it in two stages (much like the Bravo) is a good thing.
