Replacement for heavy Twin reverb

Hi.

I have a problem...I'm looking for replacement for my Twin reverb. It's one of the best sounding amp I have ever owned, but it's the heaviest too.
What amp would you buy to replace Twin. It must have good clean tone with good headroom. I was thinking Fender Vibrolux reverb or tweed Bassman reissue or maybe even older Showman/Bassman head, Super reverb (i know it's heavy too, but it is lighter).
What about Marshall Bluesbreaker..? I haven't tried it yet but as far as I know it's similar to Bassman...is it possible to get good clean with right speakers?

I'm just thinking at the moment...I really like Twin's tone.

Thanks.

the Twin is not that heavier than the amps you are listing. The Marshall "backbreaker" is noticeably heavier.

Changing to neo speakers will take almost 15 lbs off of that amp!!

I'd try a mix of Tonker Lite & Lil Texas Eminence speakers

Super reverb: 29,5 kg
Vibrolux reverb: 20, 87 kg

-Bluesbreaker RI, not much headroom before breakup..but probably depends on speaker
-Never bonded with my VBRI..
-Bassman RI,SHowman,SFRv (all great)
-Cheaper overhead , one of the devilles

imho.........wish you luck

I just recently got a Twin Head cabinet from Mojotone, and I split my Twin in two.

Each half weighs 43 lbs. Totally worth it! I get to keep my perfect Twin tone, and its much more portable now. Highly recommended.

I already owned the Fender 2x12 speaker cabinet. The Mojotone twin head cabinet was $200 + $40 shipping. Mojo advertised that it would take 2 weeks to build the cabinet, it actually took 6, oh well.

Still, totally worth it! I had a gig 2 weeks ago when I brought the amp out for the first time split up like this. It was wonderful! Love having a two piece Twin.

Good luck in your search....

I had the same weight issue with the gear I use in my surf band, and decided to go back to a separate head/cabinet arrangement, which has been much easier for me. It's a Showman head, and a 1x15 cabinet that J.D. Newell made for me - easy to carry, but very loud if I need it to be.

All your data is wrong. Check your facts, & be acurate. Twin is lighter than both the bluesbreaker & the super.

Bluesbreaker = 66.6 lbs
Twin Reverb RI = 64 lbs
Super Reverb Reissue = 65 lbs
Bassman reissue = 59 lbs

As is often the case, Fender.com has some inaccurate info in their specs. The kg specs make no sense.

They list:

Twin Reverb RI 64 lbs. (34 kg)

Super Reverb RI 65 lbs. (29.48 kg)

The Twin Reverb RI should be about 29.1 kg, and the Super Reverb is correct at 29.48kg.

Yup! I don't have a Twin, but I have a Blues Jr (and a bad back) and an Emi Lil' Texas Neo (120 watts) in the BJ. Very light, tonally balanced and can handle power- I'd recommend these over another amp if you like your Twin!

Does anyone owns Custom Vibrolux reverb? Can you get good cleans out of it? What about breakup is it good? Does it have a lot of headroom?

In my experience with them, I was not able to get good headroom from the CVR. Nice tones, but it got distorted and broken up too early.

You did notice that those were kilos, not pounds?

The relative weight will not change, whether kilos or pounds. Twin is lighter than both the bb and the sr.

Big Bend, that re-housed Twin looks great. I think I might do that with mine. The original cabinet is getting kind of ragged anyway.
