Well I tried.

Tried registering a couple of times, but it never seems to take. I may be doing something wrong, but who knows??

P.

PS--My MAZ 38 Sr. is definitely a desert island amp, does everything well, sounds great in any room. It may not have as distinct a character as some others, but it has never, ever let me down.

Paul,
Sorry for not replying earlier.
Did you ever get in over at the Z forum?
Did you check your email for a code and activate the account?

Lefty said they had some problems earlier with the registration...he said people could email him ,& he could delete your registration then re-register if you couldn't make it work

CG, as in Carmen Ghia? The "Phoenix" is a clone thereof?

Interesting. I heard a guy playing a small Dr. Z amp live, outdoors. It was WAY fat sounding, and surprisingly loud for such a small amp.

The Dean Parks demos sound great. I couldn't quite make out what kind of pickups he said he was using in that Strat. Anyone catch the name?

Officially, it's a forum dedicated to converting a Hammond AO35 amp for guitar use.

Dr Z. said in a Tonequest interview that the CG was based on the AO35.

I can't say I really agree with this.

There's a very decent guy still making a living selling these amps. Cloning a 5E3 or something is one thing, since Fender no longer makes them, but this isn't right.

I hear ya, gls500, and as a matter of fact, the short lived Phoenix forum seems to have disappeared today...

Very interesting, nevertheless.

I hear ya, gls500, and I think the Dr thinks the same about it.

I find his Matchless Lightning-clone pricing hilarious; a cab without a speaker costs $ 1200,00. A Matchless transformer is another $ 100,00. Add another $ 100,00 for a speaker and you're getting very close to the price of a new ORIGINAL Matchless Lightning. Easy choice 8)

Uh huh.

What's particularly amazing about this is that if someone really wants the Carmen Ghia, it is pretty cheap used, and even new for that matter. Z is one of the few guys giving us unique designs at an affordable price.

If someone were to reverse engineer it for their own information, or see what they can do, that's one thing. What does Trinity Amps stand to gain form publicizing this, especially if the designer himself disapproves of it? To be some sort of internet hero or something?

wish they'd had a Dr Z board back when i had mine -- my first question would've been, "how do i get my Rx to sing in a small club when it sounds perfect but everybody's telling me to turn down?"

i really wish i had a Ghia....
