NAD: Vox Pathfinder 15R

Just got it! Was reading about them here on Monday or Tuesday and on a whim checked CL.

There was one just listed the day before less than 3 miles away. 1 year old. Clean, no footswitch. $65 and it is now mine!

^^ Yup! And not just volume- it's got a quality clean tone, and a very nicely balanced EQ too! That little speaker can deliver some bass! Enjoy!

Great little amp. I suggested it to my nephew and he loves it.

Uhh...why did you think you needed a pickup truck to transport a Pathfinder 15R? Just kidding. Seriously, congrats. Nice score on a great little amp.

Yeah, I've noticed these new threads on the Vox Pathfinder 15R here in ACS. Of course, they have been getting attention in the amp owners clubs section, too, particularly (for the past 3 years) in the PF15R onwers thread:

Congratulations. These amps sound good and are cheap. Lots of people want a 30 watt version and Vox doesn't make them. Wonder why?

Come on, everyone knows two things about Vox amps:
1. The Beatles used them, and
2. they are HEAVY!
I hope that pickup truck comes equipped with heavy duty suspension.

Yeah, well, I had the Cyclone in the front seat, so it had to go in the back. ;)

I am impressed with this amp in particular, but what really gets me is how good the OD channels are on these newer amps compared to when I was first shopping for one about 1990. Wow.

You should have heard what some SS amps (clean or OD channels) sounded like in the 70's!- Dead sounding cleans, and/or over the top high-Gain....The Pathfinder 15R is a little miracle, IMO.

Great amp. Congratulations.

You could fit 20 or 30 15R's in that truck.

Don't stop now!

30 watts and a 10" speaker would be sweet...at least the speaker.

^ I love mine as is; it sounds great and is so portable (18 lbs.!) and I'm already doing small gigs with mine. BUT I am going to cannibalize and old combo amp (basically the cab) and put in a British-voiced Emi 12"- use it for larger gigs. These Pathfinders are IMO worth double their cost!

Peavey makes a great 80W solid state amp, the Bandit. . .I wish that Vox would make a 50W and a 100W Pathfinder with 12 inch speakers, that would be great. .

I'm gigging mine at a mid-size club in DC on Friday. They mic the amps and have monitors on stage. I'm looking forward to being able to carry all of my gear in and out of the club in one trip.

Vox should make a 30 watt all tube EL84 based amp with reverb, tremolo and 2 12 inch speakers............ For the price of two pathfinders.
