New Amp Vox Pathfinder 15r
Got one today.
I reckon its all been said before but- Its a great bedroom/home amp. Nice clean tones and a bit of available dirt.IMHO the reverb is nothing flash. The value of this amp is incredible. |

I came close to buying one last week, but then decided to think about it over the weekend. Then, on the way home from a business trip, I stopped in to check out a music store I'd never seen before. They had a PF15 without the reverb, used for $70. I grabbed it in a heartbeat.
Great little amp for home or backup. As a bonus, it has the classic Vox looks, too.

Love my Pathfinder( going on 2 months)
I play Fender amps, but just had to try one of these out as I have been wanting a smaller practice/small gig amp that actually has a great tone. There is a certain threshold on the Gain control where if you push it too far, it takes away from the great Vox 'cranked chime' you can get out of this thing. BUT the amp loves OD pedals and I can practically double the volume of the PF if I want to and the 8" speaker can take it! Very musical, great sustain w/an OD (I use a Biyang Tube Screamer clone or a Barber Direct Drive) The Reverb is not very deep, as expected, but sounds good (real spring) and no digital artifacts. The effect comes thru better at low Gain/high Volume settings- An amazing amp value!

Been using mine in my search to back up a singer/songwriter which is not unusual.
what is a bit different is I bring my E-E 6 string Tic Tac bass along with the gtr. In a small club or intimate setting the bass comes thru!

I like my Pathfinder too. The reverb isn't strong, but it is a real spring reverb. It has a small tank so that's why it's not strong. It does take pedals real well. I play my harmonica through it too.

Resistance is futile......everyone should get a Pathfinder 15R.
Great amps. Plug it into a bigger cab sometime....you'll be amazed. Happy new amp day.

Not really (as configured) the reverb "tank" is really the plate (w/springs/transformers) mounted on the inside of the Chassis wall(side). It's not a pan on the amp bottom. Now that's efficiency- I dig the reverb as is.

^^ I have blown (more than a few times....) $100 on say a few disappointing pedals, ugly clothes, an expensive/bad dinner, etc. The $80 (used) I spent on the Pathfinder was about the best gear purchase (relative to amt of $$ spent/product) that I think I have ever made.

I've got a PF in a larger cabinet and added a fullsize 16 3/4 tank. You need a unit with:
Input Impedance 600 Ohms, Output Impedance 2,250 Ohms I would think that a 10 inch unit would fit in a stock PF. Check the HC forum, I think someone there has done it The reverb connects to the board with 2 connectors so a harness is easy enough to make. Shouldn't cost more than $30 total to accomplish. |
