Fender Amp Settings
Some time ago, someone posted settings for Fender that was sort of a math formula. I wrote it down at the time, but I have no idea where that piece of paper is and I've done a few searches here, but not knowing the original title of the post I didn't get post I was looking for. It was something like 8-8-7-10... basically just settings for bass-treble-mid- etc. Anyone know what I'm attempting to describe?

It's called the Magic 6. Volume on 6, Treble on 6, Mids on 3 and Bass on 2 (6, 6 and 3x2=6). Master Volume to taste.

I just turn the treble all the way down and rely on my purple chaps and command of the stage to melt the 1st couple rows.
Seriously, I usually put the bass and treble on 5 and go down rather than up if need be. Show me the error of my ways.

If you set things at noon and subtract, your ears don't suffer fatigue nearly as much and it's easier to find a tone you like. Plus, Fender tone controls add volume as you go up, which is fine if you are after loud and clean, but if you want early break up roll all the tone controls back and you can push the volume knob higher without actually going up in decibels.

I would modify the magic 666 forumula to 866 on a Deluxe, 8666 on a Twin and 766 on a Princeton. Guitar volume rolled up to about 4. This gives you plenty of headroom (except on the Princeton). This for blues and country.

my SFTR ´72 settings are
- Volume on 3-4 depending on the stage/room size - Treble on 7 - Mids on 8 - Bass on 5 - Master on 10 in smaller rooms i also tend to put the Treble on 6 and the Amp is always miced
