Top Hat Amps

I read a lot about Fender, Marshall,
Line 6 Tone King, Swart, and others
but there not much said about Top
Hat amps. Does anyone here use
those amps and what guitar sounds
good with them like a Telecaster,
a PRS, Rickenbacker, or any other
guitar.

I've owned since 2006 a TH Club Royale 1x12....one of the few amps that have never left my revolving door. It's tonally versatile...gets both Vox and early Marshall tones...but mostly in the Vox camp IMO. It also gets pretty loud for 20 watts and can do any gig with ease.

This is just one beautiful sounding amp and sounds spectacular with a Telecaster and 335 type guitars. It has that Vox chime and sparkle, but grunts and grinds when you dig in with your hands/pick. The Cut knob and the Boost switch really compensate for different guitars and the Vox/Marshally type tones your want. It's the first amp that I ever viewed as an instrument...it's a part of my playing..not just something I'm playing through.

I usually crank her up, work from the volume knob on the Tele. The amp is so harmonically rich...you don't miss the reverb. It also doesn't need OD pedals at all...I use an EP booster for solos, a Tremelo and a Boss RE-20 for textures.

Something to really check out

Some amazing amps, just not as many have been built as the big guys.
