Bugera V5 - great little home amp. 5/1/.1 watts, 12AX7/EL84 tubes, reverb (digital but really good), headphone out if you have to.

Vox Lil Night Train would do just fine with a decent reverb upfront.

I've got an old Champ 12 tube amp which I've had for years. It's great for clean sounds and can even be used for small gigs. It also has a very handy headphone socket for those late night moments. These little amps are very reliable, (In over 15 years ownership I've never had a problem). and a used Champ 12 can be found on Ebay for bargain prices.

Hey Daza, I love the clean sounds from my all valve Vox AC4TV, similar to the Bugera (adjustable 4/1/.25 watt), or you can get get some good valve crunch at low volumes using the 0.25 watt too.
But I also love the different effects I can get out of my superchamp XD (15watt).

Vintage Champ...silverface or blackface - good clean, but for me the ultimate bedroom amp is tweed Champ.

I know you said 'tube amp' but I'm going to suggest a Fender Mustang I. I am a bonefide 'tube amp only dude' but purchased one of these just for the reason stated plus being able to grab and go to a jam without breaking my back. I was very surprised by the tones I'm getting out of the Mustang I and am completely happy. Best $100 I've spent in a while!

VHT Special 6. 6 watts, hand wired, boost and normal (tweed and blackface, basically), speaker out, standby, half-power, low/high inputs, great tone, around $225 for the combo. Love it. From the website:

New kid on the block - Orange Micro Terror. Around $145 for the head. Couple of reviews below:

Agreed 100% on the VHT. It's a much better amp than anything else at that price point and better quality as well.

Ibanez TSA15. 15/5 watts 2x 6V6, very bedroom friendly for a fat Fendery clean tone. Gets loud if you want power tube breakup, The tube screamer works great for bedroom blues.

Alos, the TSA5 @ $250 is 5 watts with Tube Screamer built in as well.

I am assuming by the use of the term "bedroom amp," noise is the issue. So, I'll say any good sounding amp that features a headphone jack. Even a 1 watt amp is loud enough to cause complaints.

I agree. I've never noticed much difference between the silverface and blackface Champs (the differences silverface/blackface are more noticable in the higher-powered amps though).

However. the tweed Champ 5F1 is tough to beat. The vintage 5F1s with their 8 inch speakers sound great, and so do most of the clones. I've had a few 5F1 clones with 12 inch speakers, but find that the ones with 8 inch speakers are more fun to play.

For sound clips, you might try this: http://www.tungstenamp.com/amps.htm

If you have the $, get a PRRI. Mine sounds great at bedroom levels.

Another Tweed Champ lover here, but it might not give you the cleans you say you want, even at bedroom levels.

I just put a Dr Z. Brake Light in my PRRI and I'm in heaven. Put the master on 7 and dial in power stage distortion at bedroom levels with the volume knob.

Also +1 to the Mustang. I have one and it's remarkably good.

For cleans, my 60 watt Super 210 sounds awesome at low volume. Has a really complex, great tone at bedroom volume, with a bit of reverb to give it depth. The EQ section is very responsive (actually cuts volume to each frequency band), and for low bedroom/apartment volume levels I turn the treble off, put mid at about 2-4, and bass at 2. Pull notch at 3:00, volume about 3-4.

IMO any amp (even a TR) can sound great at low volume, if clean is your thing (as it is mine). Small, one-speaker amps like a Champ and PJ are good too, but they lack the "complexity" at low volume of a larger twin amp IMHO.

SuperChamp XD, if you can find one(discontinued with the release of the X2). Great cleans, channel switching, some decent amp models/effects, and the master volume is great for home use. I've seen used ones for less than $200.
