An Observation

When you go to turn on an amp do you instinctivly reach over the top of the amp and reach behind it with your fingers no matter where the actual power switch is located?

No, but I have a guitar with a reverse 6-a-side headstock and I always go for the side with no tuners when I tune it.

Howdy,

Paul, sometimes I actually do reach 'round behind my amp before turning it on!

I don't think I do it on amps but when I drive a car or pickup with an automatic I reach for the shifter on the floor. Not a big deal IF the shifter is on the floor. But in my company pickup it ain't !

That's exactly what I thought also - do it all the time due to my 69 twin.

No, but I'm so used to tweed amps with the power/knobs/numbers on top and backwards, that now if I play "normal" amps, I can barely read them and I always reach for the top to adjust them!

Then again the switch IS on the back of my amp!

Constantly. Too many years with old Fenders and Peavey PA systems.

Not all the time, but I've definitely done it!

In fact, sometimes right when I make the switch over to a guitar with a 3+3 headstock I usually reach in the wrong spot to tune the G, B and E!

I built my DIY 18 Watter with the power switch on the back on purpose. It keeps all the AC wiring in back, away from the pots, and it's just cool to do the "Fender reach-over".

Standby switch is on the front, though, because it gets used during the show.

Yeah, I went to a Blues jam last year. I use a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, with the knobs on the "right" way.

When the other guitarist was going for a break he handed me his Les Paul. Which I politely refused (can't beat a Tele).

His amp was a Blues Deluxe which is almost identical to the Hot Rod, so I thought I might aswell plug into his amp.

I looked down at the panel and saw that all the knobs were on backwards. By that time I'd already had a few beers and all I could think was "DOES NOT COMPUTE, DOES NOT COMPUTE, ABORT, ABORT, ABORT"

Fortunately I had my amp with me. That's the guitarist's equivalent of Ctrl - Alt - Delete.
