"new" used Peavey Backstage Plus

I picked up an older USA made Peavey Backstage Plus , my buddy bought one of these new in the mid 80s, at the time it was the smallest amp that Peavey made w reverb.
35 watts and one 10" speaker ( looks like an Eminence ), when working right it is a loud little amp, great for rehearsals or small gigs, you could mike it for bigger venues.

This one powered up but had a weird squeal, it was cheap so I went ahead and got it.
Pulled the chassis and looked around, there was one 22 ohm resistor that was burnt up. Off to Radio Shack for a pack of 22 ohm resistors, soldered a new one it and it lives again!
Everything works, but the reverb is real weak, hopefully that will be an easy cheap fix too.

This is from the same era as the Bandit and Special amps, and has a similar tone, but just has one channel, you can get clean and switch to an OD sound, but I prefer the cleaner tones and would use an OD pedal.

Not a great score but fun and useable.

That was my first amp after a guy I'd just met talked me outta quitting guitar way back when the Backstage was a new model. I bought it from him plus his PV Strat-type guitar. Maybe he was unloading stuff on this flattop player but I owe him forever for getting me going again.

I actually gigged a bit with that little puppy before stepping up to...a Bandit!

Nice find.

I had an '89 version and by then they were 25W. Good amp for recording and was built like a tank.
