Any hybrid-picking country guys playing a TraynorYCV40WR?

If so, how you liking it? Give us some details. I played one down at the local store the other day and it sounded pretty nice, sort of fendery, but a little different. Also played the YCV50, YCV20WR, and YCV40T with the 2-10's. These did not sound as sweet to my ears, but that's just me.

well, i have the YCV20WR, and don't expect playing it at high volumes clean. You can do it, you just won't be heard....i think that amp is primarily for overdriving those little 15 watts anyways.

The YCV 40T has 4 10" speakers i believe. I do like the 40WR, and the 50, and would have no problems recommending either. I think that the 40 might be better suited to country though.

Anywho, good luck

When our church gear was stolen a few years ago, the other guitar player for our worship team lost his 2X12 Fender Blues DeVille. Even though he has worked at Guitar Center for the past 10 years, he know very little about the ins and outs of gear. Long story short. He is a great player. Atkins, Burton, Albert Lee style hybrid picker. When he got his insurance money, he asked me to find him an amp even though he could ahve got a Fender at GC with his employee discount. I found him a great deal on a YCV 40 and he still had $500 left over. He loves it. It sounds much better ( in this applicaiton ) than the Fender did. The Fender was so loud, he had to keep it at 1 1/2 or 2, so the tone suffered. The Traynor he still keeps low, around 3-4, but it really, really sounds great with his guitar and style of play. Due to his work schedule, he is not able to make practice and misses a few services a month, so I run stereo using a Digidelay into my Roland Blues Cube 60 and his Traynor. Huge, beautiful tone. The Traynors are great amps for the money. His still has the stock tubes and speakers and probably will forever as he is not as gear obsessed as I! I keep telling him it wil lsound better with JJ's and a new speaker, but he's perfectly happy with it as is. Go figure!!

My Favorite Amp! YCV40!!

I got one a few months ago, I love it! It works great for my band, which is a roots rock/Americana kind of thing, but it also kills for for blues, country pickin', even full out hard rock. Great clean, great crunch, and super thick and creamy full out distortion. The only drawback to these amps, is IMO the reverb sucks. But since I don't use verb, it doesn't affect me.

I say once again, it's the only channel switching amp I have ever had in which both channels were 100% useable. Even the bright switch is useable, unlike most Fender amps I tried.
