best vox ac30 speakers??

which speakers do you think sound better in an AC30: Greenbacks or Blue Alnico??

a friend of mine said that he was told vox only made ac30 reissues with greenbacks for a few years, and that these sound the best. someone else i know has a vox with blue alnicos and said they're amazing...i'm sure they're both great, but i was wondering what people on the board thought...thanks

Only a few years? I thought Korg/Vox has had the TB (GBs) and TBX (blues) options since the AC30 ri was released in '92.

I haven't heard GBs in an AC30 but the blues are very efficient and are great sounding components in an AC30, I won't get into sound descriptions here...which is better?-depends on personal preference, I like alnico's...

I believe the "'net wisdom" is that the Alnico Blues are the best speakers for AC30s but I bet there are a plenty of people who like the amp with GBs.

I use a couple of Red Fangs with mine and they sound quite good with my AC30.

Doesn't sound like an AC30 when it has Greenbacks. The Celestion Blue Alnicos or the Weber Blue Dogs are the key.

Greenbacks aren't great choices for an open backed cab anyway.

An AC30 was designed to have the Alnico Celestion G12 Blue speaker, and all the AC30 sounds you've ever heard recorded have those speakers. An AC30 can sound fine with lots of different speakers, but no one who has actually heard greenbacks and then blues in the same amp will ever prefer the greenbacks.

Go Blue!!

Without the blues, my AC-30, and hence I, would be nothing!

Go blue, you'll not regret it!!
