amp didn't come with tubes pictured...

Just realized this...

57 Twin Chassis in the '05 catalogue shows two, fender coke-bottle shaped 5U4 recty's..

My amp came with two ElectroHarmonix 5U4's. :x

The catalogue also shows four, Groove Tubes 12AX7's with green printing on them.

Mine came with two, Groove Tubes 12AX7's, and the other two, were printed just "fender"...upon closer inspection, I saw they were Sovteks. These, were printed in red.

Is this out of the norm?? I mean..I think they would (or should) send what's pictured?

I wrote Fender. We'll see what they say. I didn't even notice this till today, and I've had the amp almost a WEEK!

First, the catalog photos usually cannot be relied upon to depict the actual item, and there's usually a disclaimer buried somewhere that says that. The photos are taken months and months ahead of production.

Second, there are shops around that will pull the better quality tubes out of higher quality amps and substitute run of the mill tubes, so they can reuse or resell the better stuff. There were reports of this on the Bassman LTD with the 6L6GE's in there.

Check the fender.com site, or email/call them, and ask what tubes the amp ships with. If what you have isn't that, consider going back to your dealer.

You're going to want to ditch those GTs anyways and put some propper tubes in there JJ's for example.
