Fizzy overtones

I've just put a Weber California speaker in my SFDR and totally love the tight full bass this speaker puts out, but when I play something like an Am, there's quite a fizzy overtone accompanying the basic chord. It was there in my previous speaker but is really pronounced now, especially as I move from neck to bridge pickup on my Tele. I lowered pickups a bit and there wasn't much change in the overtones. Over the fifth fret, these overtones pretty much disappear. What might be causing this unpleasant overtone and is there a cure?!

Microphonic tube? Intermodulation between the note and power supply ripple?

Has the amp ever had a cap job? Have you checked for microphonic tubes?
