i must be a total idiot i just buy cables of all kinds that are just expensive enough for a life time warranty
so when they fail i use the back up and return the dead one the next day for replacement. in the case of internal ones if you cant see it it isnt there. the amp works because of magic |

I love glowing ad copy. Dude sez,
"which deliver a large sound stage with excellent details" I read that to mean the auction includes one of those folding stages on a semi trailer with the lighting trusses and all. Not bad for fifty bucks... Does it come with a P.A.? Athough I'm not sure about playin' on a fifty buck stage. Must be one of those shady imports... Pretty sure I've played on a fifty buck stage before. Half a sheet of plywood four inches off the floor in one corner of the bar. Kitchen door swats me on one side o' my head, restroom door on the other during my set... If it's just a foot of cable with a 1/4" plug on one end it's gotta come with lube. $10 worth of cable, $40 worth of lube. (for when the handy link don't work no more) What? Does a computer write this stuff? Or is it outsourced to someplace they don't speak English? First thing I see is "Fender" ad copy: "Detailed item info Product Information Enhance the sound quality of your guitar, with the Fender '65 Deluxe guitar amplifier and give a splendid performance. With dual 6V6 Groove Tubes output tubes, this Fender reverb guitar amplifier delivers excellent quality clean and clear sound. This Fender guitar amplifier features four 12AX7 preamp tubes, which deliver a large sound stage with excellent details. With the two-button footswitch of this Fender reverb guitar amplifier for reverb and vibrato on-off, playability becomes a simple task. The 12inch 8-ohm Jensen C-12K speaker of this Fender guitar amplifier offers sweet tones to your music without being harsh sounding. The Fender '65 Deluxe amplifier has a black textured vinyl covering and silver grille cloth, which makes it reliable and durable for a longer run." "Splendid!" Good thing I speak English 'cuz at a glance it looks like he's sellin' a DRRI. Then: "It's time to replace the poor quality stock speaker cable in your Fender amp…DUMP that plastic molded tone sucker for our (redacted) "Hot Mods" cable built with quality Evidence Audio Cable and heavy duty Nuetrik REAN NYS207 1/4 right angle connector. This simple DIY upgrade can make a huge improvement in sustain, note balance and overall frequency response!" It's spring and they're spreadin' manure on the big corn field across the river behind Home Depot. So that must be what I'm smellin'... The foot of cable on my Princeton reads continuity measured with my multimeter. It's easily capable of handlin' 120 volts if I use it as a lamp cord. There's not much wiggle room there for "a huge improvement in sustain, note balance and overall frequency response." , Last edited by muchxs; April 30th, 2012 at 06:49 AM. |

Have to say, I am somewhat disappointed. Always thought that Fargen was a quality shop/boutique brand. The ad makes them sound like they were bought out by someone in one of those third world countries who are always trying to scam on the internet

I don't get it. So for $50 will this incredible greatly improved speaker cable allow the amp to play all by itself of do I still need to plug my guitar into it. Is there a Jeff Beck style cable. I've always wanted to play some Jeff Beck stuff but I just don't have the chops.

The really sad thing is that some people will in fact be taken in by this...

sorta like the monster cables? i admit to using cheap cables for my guitar but im just a noob. its musicanfriends brand.. figure it would be ok if they willing to put there name on it. i could be wrong of course. not had a cable fail yet. next time i buy a guitar cable. i will do like the guy above buy the one with life time warranty. i also use a guitar cable from the 60s its like the ones you see the vox guys using all coiled up mine is in black and the ends are screwed together so you can take them apart to re-solder i guess if need be. that is by far my fav cable.

I, too, thought Fargen was a more scrupulous outfit. |

expensive guitar cables? YES! they make a noticeable difference in sound because the signal from the guitar to the amp is so small any improvement in the signal path makes a huge improvement
expensive speaker cable? NO WAY! your pumping a lot of power from the amp to the speaker so any good cable is going to work as long as it's not broken

i know im taking the OP off topic a bit. but i would like to know since a good cable for the guitar indeed is not snake oil. what should one look for in a good guitar cable. yeah, it would be easy to follow the marketers way of wanting us to think.. you know if its more expensive its obv better. in my experience this is not always the case.
thank you guys. next months project is to build a box for my roland micro cube, get a 8" mod speaker 4ohm ( maybe even try to tweed cover it ) and get a good guitar cable. and the rest of my hobbie monies goes to guitar building tools. nut files. woohoo. then all ill need is a few odds and ends and some wood and see how bad i mess up my first guitar build. ( i did buy two truss rods, so i have two shots at a neck before i have to hack them apart for the truss rod to try again) being disabled sucks. stay healthy guys. but with the price of gas, i guess im not the only one with little play money. chris. |

A guy at a music store say I just HAD to use George L cables. He said, "it'll brighten up your tone". I said, "you mean like this"? As I turned my treble up from 5 to 6.
A "good" guitar cable is 20.00. A "bad" cable is one of those you get that is about as thick as the power cord plugged into my laptop and cost 5.00. Anything more is just Snake oil. I tried a friends monster guitar cable he was braggin about using. No difference, nada, nothin'. Kind of like putting a racing stripe on a Chevy Vega.
