Shorted death cap vidio

Just thought I'd show you why grounded cords are important. The death cap is shorted with a jumper and the two prong plug is in the wrong way.

I should point out that the tele I'm playing has the full 120 volt ac on it.
So don't try it at home !
Like I did.

Bobby, you should be commended for doing that video, but it makes me worry what you might do that starts with "hold my beer..."

Maybe you could do a video on thermite, or perhaps using hydrogen to inflate balloons

Celeste I don't drink much beer these days.

But a few before I did that might have made it much more intertaining.
(and maybe I could figure out how to post a youtbe the right way)

Just copy and paste the letters between the youtube tags found here after the V= in the address bar on Youtube.

Like so

far canal.!!.... that's a good way to explain the problem ....

how many poor souls must have found out the hard way?...

I'm glad we've always had 3 prong plugs in Oz with dedicated earthing on all appliances of this nature...
My Dad was a valve geek when I was a kid, he had a workshop under the house...... that was the first thing he drummed into me... do an earth wire check on gear before plugging into power... make sure there is one on the chassis......

death caps wooooo... nasty

That amp ought to be great for band use you can run your guitar and the band lights at the same time.

seriously good video to show how the voltage can be on the strings.

OMG!

Also please always use a RCD or "ground breaker trip" type plug/adaptor because if these sense any current on the earth or if the live does not equal the neutral, then it shuts off the supply PDQ before it can fry you or one of your friends or family.

Got that part. Now there was one other thing I have seen and that is reversing the way the fuse holder is wired?

What is that about? How can that fail and cause a shock?

Never gave that much thought. I have a SF Super reverb and a 74 Marshall both with factory grounded cords. Never got a shock off of them (I'll have to try harder)

I bet you probably saved at least one person's life by posting that... Possibly mine!

Thanks again... Should be required viewing for all tube amp affecianados!

Buy an ohmmeter, they are cheap and make sure your 3-way cords are good, and get one of those circuit testers that will tell you if an outlet is wired right or not. You oughta be able to get both for under $25 combined.
