The Blue Dog & Silver Bell are supposed to be great speakers. Alot of people have been putting the new Eminence speakers in their C30's. Check it out over here:

pardon my suggestion, but...
you might want to consider a couple of options from Carvin. They now have a GS12-75-8 - 12'' 75W guitar speaker that looks like a celestion made speaker for only $30. They also have Celestion VIN 30's and I like their Carvin GT-12. I am running a GT-12 in a transtube Studio Pro and it really shines. It is WAY better than the stock PV speaker, and it's like I have a whole different amp. Great low end and clean crisp highs, handles mucho distortion easily and is rated at 100W.

I'm pleased with the Weber 12F150 (50-watt) I put in my C30. But I've heard a lot of good things about the Blue Dog in a C30 as well. If I ever get an extension cab for the amp I'll probably load it with a Blue Dog.

V30 junkie
I had a Celestion Vintage 30 in the amp, and a Celestion 70th Anniversary Special Edition (G12H) in the cab.
WOW! What a mix. It depends on what sound you're going for. I pop Alnico speakers in all of my Fenders, BUT the Marshall gets Celestion Vintage 30s - EVERYTIME. I use the Fenders for cleaner tones, blues, or vintage style sounds... the Peavey I used for it's distortion mostly, it's clean secondly. The V30s will make the amp sound louder and bigger... meaner and meatier. The Alnico speakers will soften the treble, and make for a warmer sound. The Peavey Classic 30 is an amp that can almost go either way (vintage clean, or 70s rockmonster) - so it's a harder decision for this amp. |

I'm with you. The Weber Blue Dog was my first thought before I clicked on the thread. I have a friend with one in his C30 and a Silver Bell in the extension cab. Fantastic speakers for that amp.
