New 57 twin in today..

I made a post in the strat forum about the new Rory Gallagher strat and the 57 Twin that came along with it.

"So much tone is to be expected from this amp..The amp had a bass presence that gave me tones I typically do not hear from a strat. Wow.. The amp weighs a ton though, 70+lbs. and LOUD...room type volume is about 2 1/2 - 3. The dial goes to 12. I took the guitar and amp to a buddy's house, played them both a good while, gradually raising the volume...ended up at 11, and almost blowing the windows out. The overdrive is amazing though, enabling massive amounts of sustain that eventually lead to a nice harmonic feedback if givin the opportunity "

Terrific.

Well, I kinda wonder why yours is so heavy. Fender says they weigh 44 pounds, and I have test-lifted more than one, and my unscientific back confirms Fender's numbers?

Sinnerboy: I only mentioned reverb in relation to weight. I'm sure it sounds great. 8)

Playing an amp like that "in a house", is pretty limiting. Please post another review after you play the thing at a decent sized club or an outdoor gig.
