I've done a comparison of a few cabs in this thread:
2x12 cabs Judging by the music you play, you might like the Laney GS212IE. This is an inexpensive cab.

Avatar / Carvin
Bang for the buck either and Avatar or a Carvin 2-12 cabinet would be a good deal, for a new cabinet.
I've had both , I had a Legacy 2-12, it was smaller and lighter than the Avatar, it sounded really good to me with a couple of different amp heads, mine had Vintage 30s in it. I also had a semi open back 2-12 Avatar cabinet with Vintage 30s. The Avatar cabinets are very well made, it was quite a bit heavier than the Carvin, and it sounded great. In the end for the small amount of playing out that I do, I don't need a 2-12 cabinet but I would recommend either one of the above cabinets. I got my Avatar cabinet used, but I have bought speakers direct from Avatar and the customer service was great. |

I own two different Avatar 2x12s that are gigged regularly. One cab is open-backed has two Celestion Golds, the other is convertible open/closed with Celestion G12-75s. Best bang for the buck, IMHO. You can get virtually any style, color, and speaker configuration, and once the speakers are broken in you'll have a great sounding, durable cab that will withstand many nights worth of abuse. They're often available used on Craigslist, eBay and The Gear Page, too.
I have no affiliation with the company- just a satisfied customer and regular (ab)user. |

You could go with an empty cab and get whatever combination of speakers you like. I just found these guys.
