Hey, how do you like this amp?

This is a 100w Sundown amp, 2-6550 power section, 5-12AX7 preamp. The speaker has 2x10" Eminence, one Ragin' Cajun and one Delta Demon. It's a perfect combo of speakers, covers a lot of sonic ground. I had a friend from another forum make the custom head and speaker cab based on an idea I'd had for quite some time.

The cleans on the amp are very Ampeg-like, or like a hot Bassman. Full, round and clear, very tight bottom. Not a lot of top end sparkle like a Fender or Vox, but very defined without any icepick. The OD Channel goes from classic rock crunch to fusion-type smooth gain. I'm happy as a clam and playing my head off with this setup. My Esquire just pops and spanks through it and the Les Paul screams and thumps perfectly.

It looks great! I'm a big fan of 6550s in high gain amps as the last thing you need is a soft power amp following a saturated preamp... my only concern is which speaker do you mic?

I've only recorded the cab a couple times, and that was before I had the head finished. Put a Savage Macht 6 through it. I mic'ed the Cajun and it sounded great. The Demon should sound a little warmer. Together it's a great full sound with an astounding amount of bottom from two 10"ers!

Thanks, stan! I installed a full set of new 12AX7EH preamp tubes the other day. Wow, that's all I can say. What agreat amp this is. I still have a couple issues, but I found out that Dennis Kager, the designer and builder, still services these amps. So, it's shipping off to NJ this week for a factory tuneup 8)

Thanks guys! She does sound like she looks 8) Overall it sounds great, but there's some background noise and a small issue with the clean channel, hence the trip to the maker for a once-over. This thing has unbelievable low end, even with the 2x10 setup. It just rips all over
