70's Twin questions

I have a chance at buying a late '70's Twin w/master volume. The seller lives 60 miles away and doesn't know much about the amp.

I would use the Twin with pedal steel and Tele.

Though I've seen it up close it's been a few years and I don't know how stock the insides are. Haven't played through it yet to know if the speakers and tubes are good or not. One 12" is a JBL.

Q: What were stock speakers for Twins in the late '70's?

Q: The tolex has a paisley design, I assume this wasn't stock?

Q: Seller says serial # is 63772. Is that 1976?

Q: Assuming the amp was born in 1976, would that make it a 135w model?

thanks heaps,
Drew

Looks like 1973

Looks like 1973. Not 135watt. More valuable than 135watt models.

The speakers I've seen in the silver face twins were Oxfords and Utahs. There may have been others. If I didn't like the stock speakers, I would seriously consider 1 Weber California and 1 Weber Michigan both ceramic. Unless some good fairy dropped a 15" JBL 130 on my doorstep. I know that Ricky Davis and Dave Van Allen have a lot of Fender TR experience. You might check with them.

I put Eminence Alpha 12's in my 135W TR. I believe that Eminence has changed the name of that speaker now..but for the price (and they were 100W speakers), and the tone...they were hard to beat.

I got them via Big Cookie for about $100.pair.
