The Best Cab For The Job???

I've got an Allen Old Flame Combo and it's great,,, but I'm thinking about getting it in just the head and maybe a maz 38 head also....

I would like to get a couple of great cab's to go with these... Anyone have any suggestions???

I like Brent Mason's Tone (Couldn't play like him if my life depended on it though!!!)

Thanks,

Chris

Did you get the 2x10, the 1x12 or the 1x15 combo? I would spend some time at the webervst board. There are so many variables in speakers and cabs that I find I need to spend time thinking about what I really want. If you want an inexpensive cab with a lot of bang for your buck, it is hard to beat Avatar.

On the other hand, you might find things you like better. For instance I have mated my 1x12 combo with a V30 to a 2x12 closed back cab with G12-T75s. I get a rich full warm complex sound with LOTS of volume. I have a friend who played a Maz 38 through a Genz Benz cab with a single Weber California in it. He loved it, but found it too loud for his country rock band. Now he is using a Maz 18 Jr through a 2x12 cab with a Weber California and a Weber Chicago. There is lots of information on that Weber board.

Cab for Old Flame

I'm in a similar position. I'm going to build an Old Flame head this summer, and my plan is to build a non-resonant ported cab 1x12 according to Kevin O'Connor's specs. This is a design that is supposed to combine the best of closed back and open back cabs.

How about the Z-Best cab to go with that MAZ-38 head Chris?

Sweet combo to be sure.
