Pro Junior questions
My very first amp was an old tweed Fender that said "Deluxe" on it. I don't know what year it was or anything since back in 75 it was just and old amp I got for 50 bucks (!) I had that and a Mustang I paid $60 for in a hardshell case. Hey I was a kid and didn't know just what I had. Got rid of the Fendser Amp and bought a Peavy Classic which I sold when I got out of music like an idiot (along with my '66 Strat).
17 years later I got back into music and I've noticed that the Pro Junior seems a lot like my old Fender amp. I sthat my imagination? My beef back then was the only way to get it to sing was to crank it up. I assume the Pro Junior would be the same. How loud is that little amp? Anyone use one with an attentuator to get the tone at home levels? What about a Blues Junior? Will the master volume and overdrive on it get me back to my old sound? I've used one in a store when I bought my Tele, but, I had it down pretty low and it didn't sound like it.

Pro Jr. not equals Tweed Deluxe
If you had a Tweed Deluxe, I'd be crying over getting rid of it a lot more than the Peavey. They go for big $ these days if the real deal.
Anyway, the old Deluxe was based on 6V6 power tubes, and sound fundamentally different than the EL84's in the Pro Jr. and Blues Jr. I like the Pro Jr. and I get plenty of break-up at low volumes with it, but neither the PJ nor the BJ will have as much power as a Deluxe, and will break up at lower volumes than the Deluxe, but with diiferent tone. |
