Hey E-Merlin: P to tha EA, V to tha EY!!!
Just got a Peavey Delta Blues today, 1x15, to replace my ailing Ampeg Superjet. 360 bucks well-spent! Snagged a used one on Ebay for not too much more than it will cost to fix the Ampeg (which I will do one of these days).
With a Tele, the Peavey's clean channel cranked wide-open is a thing of beauty (think Buchanan's solo on "Lonesome Fugitive", sort of dirty country), and this is with the stock speaker and tubes. I can't wait to hear it with some other stuff. I tried to buy a new one, but the only place that had them priced for my budget was backordered indefinitely. But I'm actually glad I bought a used one because this one has obviously NEVER been gigged with (the tweed is spotless, even the handle looks like it's never been lifted up), and since I don't have a warranty to avoid voiding, I can try some different stuff with it. Nearly all the reviews I've read have criticized the OD channel, but I find that if you just cut the mid way down it sounds great. There's definitely a sweet spot that can be dialed-in between the mid control and the gain. I love the reverb, too - easier to get a handle on than Fender 'verb (for my purposes, anyway), and way better tonally than the 'verb on my Superjet. I also LOVE the 15" deal. Gets along REAL well with my MIJ 62 RI. Playing the bass line from Little Walter's "Last Night" in drop-D on the neck pup with the verb cranked and just a little trem...HUBBA HUBBA! You don't need a bass player. And playing "Hideaway" wide-open on the bridge pup...there's only one way to spell that: F - U - N. I can't WAIT to plug my Dano baritone into this puppy. I've got a couple gigs coming up, for which I feel the Peavey might not be quite loud enough, so I'll give a better review in a couple weeks. But for a workingman's, knock-about, under-$400 tube amp, this Peavey sounds WAY better than it should. |

Good to hear it and happy I could be of service. Let us know how the gig goes.
And if you do get mod crazy, check out blueguitar.org . Steve's got a bunch of mods over there for the Classic 30, but since the DB is a C30 with the addition of tremolo you'll be able to apply those mods if you so desire. But, live with it for a while first :P |

Thanks man. I have checked out the Blue Guitar site - sounds very interesting. I may try some of those eventually, after I really break the amp in for a while, and after I get over my fear of electrocution!
