Crate VC50 model 5115 problem

i have a Crate Vintage Club 50 with the single 15. it has new EL84's, the 4 12AX7's are of an unknown age but all still glow when i turn the monter on. tonight, after dropping my wife off for her sleep study i came home to make some serious noise with my new Les Paul. i turned the main power on, went and got a beer, tuned the Les Paul then plugged the guitar into the amplifier and switched it off of standby, it warmed up for probably 3 or 4 minutes. playing on the clean channel i put the volume at 5 and started playing. after a minute or 2 it made a faint crackling sound and the sound then went away totally. i turned the power off, unplugged it and went and sprayed all the jacks then plugged/unplugged a cable into each of the jacks a dozen or so times because i'd heard that sometimes these amplifiers will misbehave if the footswitch jack is dirty. i turned it all back on, played it at the same volume level, this time on the hi gain channel and the same thing happened. has anyone at all experienced this same problem? maybe we have an amp tech here that could give me some advice? living on disability, it's really hard to come up with cash to get stuff fixed so i'm hoping that it might be something simple. when i replaced the power tubes i removed all tubes and cleaned the sockets and the pins on the pre-amp tubes just to be sure there were good, clean connections. help please?

Bucky, I have a VC3112 that would periodically cut out. I did the same things you tried. Finally I took it to a tech. I believe that the remedy was new preamp tubes.

On another note, maybe if you didn't play so loud your wife would be able to sleep.
