Jan Phillips 6L6WGB

I just installed a set of Jan Phillips 6L6WGBs in my HRDX and when I went to bias ,I discovered that at the coldest point of the pot they biased at 80mV.I read somewhere that 68mV was where a 6L6GC should be.Being a newbie at biasing,I'm wondering if perhaps these tubes would have a different bias point or am I doing damage. It sounds very nice set cold with those tubes.

6L6WGB is not a 6L6GC

the wgb is closer to a 5881.
how are you measuring your bias? Are you using a plug in tool? the 80mv reading is meanigless unless you know plate voltage etc. you generally bias by current (mA).

also the 6l6wgb is a 25watt maximum tube. where a 6l6gc is a 30 watt max tube. so you cannot bias them the same or you will burn them up pretty quickly.

try this link http://www.webervst.com/vstbbs/bbs.html

click on the "tubes" button on the left side of the page
then click on "bias calculator" on the top center of the page. this should help a bit.
