scratchy Presence control
I have a modified Fender hybrid, it's like a Princeton Reverb w/ a Deluxe phase inverter and output. It also has a presence control based on the tweed Bassman design. The presence control makes scratchy noises when turned. I seem to remember that another 5F6-A copy I built years ago did the same thing, and I had read somewhere that this was normal, and NOT caused by a dirty or worn pot. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

there are 2 ways to wire a presence...one that places DC voltage on the pot, and one that doesn't. I'd rather not explain the difference.....
if your layout puts DC on the pot, then this is normal. DC voltage on a pot can sound scratchy. oversimplified answer, but i'm pressed for time right now... mn |
