Are there any Gretsch amp users/fans here?
If so, what are some good ones. My local store has a model like a twin amp. Sorry I don't know the model as this is new territory for me. The construction reminds me of a Sears amp my dad had from the '60's. Thinner cabinet walls than a Fender with cloth covering. I think the speakers are 2-10"'s. I think it's 30 watts but not 100% sure. Has nice castors. I did an Ebay search and all kinds of cool looking old Gretsch amps popped up. Just curious who likes 'em and uses for what.
Let's see some pics if you have too! Thanks! This is the same amp: I was wrong on some details. The one I saw is in better shape than this, but I'm not sure to what degree it still has original parts.

I bought a '57 playboy (1x12 Jensen, 6sc7/6sq7/2x6v6/5u4) a few months ago, and I freakin' love it! The quality of workmanship is not as high as that of Fender gear from the same years, but with a little tweaking (i.e. a cap job and new tubes, plus a 3 prong cord for that oh so important earth ground...) I've got it sounding pretty darn amazing. The pre tubes are a little hard to find, but how many do you need? The cab design is way cooler than the late 60's stuff, though still covered with cheesy suitcase hardware. I think these amps are way underrated- which is great news, because they are very cheap! By the way, I'm using the new spiral filament JJ 6v6's- anyone else tried them out? They seem to be pretty meaty, I biased them fairly, hot and they seemed to really like it.
